Game recap

The UPSL Div II Wolves played in McKInney, TX v. Dallas City FC. In windy and hot conditions Dallas City had an early possession advantage and started the scoring in the 15′ off a nice cross from their right winger to their attacking center mid on a near post run that just made the connection and finished in the top of the next. 7′ minutes later a second goal came off a deflected Wolves pass made its way to the Dallas Left Winger who struck a nice ball to the low right corner. After the hydration break at the 30′, the Wolves connected with a good series of connections and ball movement with Cody Moore connecting to Jacob Bryan Ayala for a nice finish inside the far post from across the face. In the 35′ Wolves keeper Dylan Purdue stopped a strong 1:1 but he and the attacker both went down hard, but both were able to return to play. The remainder of the first half the Wolves had about 60% of the possession, with shots missing the mark and nice crosses just missing their target in the face of the goal. The second half saw the Wolves up the intensity and pressure on Dallas, gaining at least 60% of possession and only occasionally letting Dallas past the middle third. Combination play and constant pressure through midfield created several good windows of attack setting up several 1:1 chances that were well saved by the Dallas FC keeper. As the Wolves continued to push more numbers forward in the 75′, The back three of Misaki Sato, Peyton Land, and Fougnigue Sefon and keeper Matt Ward shut down attacks and made saves and initiated good attacks through midfield. As time ran out, much of the play from the Wolves moved to attempts and quick counters and long balls without any goal production. The Wolves look to avenge the loss and begin the second third of the season at home against the same Dallas City FC team this Saturday night October 5 at 6pm at Scott Field.
