From Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, to the American college game and now Arkansas Wolves, Mpumelelo “Pumi” Maphumulo brings versatility, personality, creativity, and a genuine love for football to the Pack.

Pumi’s journey began in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, before soccer brought him to the United States and opened the next chapter of his life.
His American playing path has included Illinois Valley Community College, the University of Central Arkansas, Lasell University, and the Little Rock Rangers.
Along the way, Pumi developed into a player capable of contributing in several areas of the field. Attack, midfield, defense — his versatility has become one of the defining qualities of his game.
His time at UCA and with the Little Rock Rangers also means Arkansas is already familiar territory. Now he returns to begin another chapter with the Wolves.

Pumi can influence a match from multiple positions. His ability to attack, create from midfield, or contribute defensively gives the Wolves options while allowing his personality to come through in his football.

Arkansas is not unfamiliar territory. Pumi’s time at the University of Central Arkansas and with the Little Rock Rangers already connected him to the state’s soccer community. Now that connection continues with the Pack.

Away from the field, Pumi describes himself as fun, outgoing, and always ready to travel or experience something new.
Music is another major part of his life. South African sounds are never far away, with Kelvin Momo and Kabza De Small among the artists regularly in rotation.
For Pumi, music provides another outlet away from soccer — a way to reset, enjoy life, and stay connected to home.
